The name "Yukata" comes from the word "Yu" (bath) and "Katabira" (under clothing). Thousands of year ago, the Japanese Court Nobles worn linen "Yukatabira" which were draped loosely after taking a bath. The popularity of the Yukata gradually grew to the Japanese warriors and then by the general public, 300 years ago when the sophisticated Japanese public bath became popular. Today, the traditional Japanese Yukata are widely used in dances, casual clothing. and night attire from the spring to fall. In Japan, the Yukata is the most popular daily clothing wear and is beloved for its 100% Japanese cotton fabric, which is the softest cotton.
