Red Eyed Fu Dogs

Fu Dogs (Foo) were originally placed in front of Chinese and Japanese Buddhist temples, as well as imperial palaces and government buildings. They represent protective guardians and are commonly found at the entrance to one's home. As a pair, they are male to the right and female on the left as they are approached. The male holds a globe, representing dominance over its domain. The female protectively holds her playful baby signifying strong maternal character. The sculptural interpretation is generally a combination of lion and dog. As lions are not indigenous to Japan or China, their image was described by Western merchants and simulated with the features of local Asian dogs.

Fu Dog statue pairs are a wonderful house warming gift, wedding present, or new-baby gift as a Feng Shui symbol of protection and wealth.

This pair of Fu Dogs is designed in the Thai style and cast from resin. Faux red jewels are set in the eyes making this pair foreboding and impressive.

Dimensions: 11" tall
Material: Cast resin
