Our stainless steel Shabu-Shabu Pot with center chimney is designed for use on a portable gas or electric stove. Shabu-Shabu is a Japanese hot pot meal that brings family and friends together at the dining table. Each diner prepares their food to their own preference. The detailed lightweight designed pot will bring the cooking liquid to temperature quickly and keep it hot while you shabu-shabu at your next dinner. The pot has two decorative handles and comes with two ring handles on the lid. Traditionally, shabu-shabu is prepared by submerging thinly sliced beef and vegetables into a pot of boiling water or dashi (broth), followed by swishing the meat and vegetables back and forth several times to desired doneness. Chicken, pork, crab, duck, and lobster can also be used. Shabu-Shabu is usually served with tofu and vegetables such as carrots, onions, nori (seaweed), chrysanthemum leaves, and mushrooms. The cooked meat and vegetables are served with dipping sauces and a bowl of steamed white rice. Udon, mochi, or harusame noodles may also be served. It is customary for the leftover broth and rice to be combined for a soup that is eaten last.
* This pot is also used for Mongolian or Chinese style hot pot meals.
